Salvatore Leone (Cosenza, 26 April 1922 – Udine, 19 May 2004) has been a real pioneer in the field of structural engineering and in the information applied to the calculation. Graduated at the Engineering University of Naples in 1945, where he teached for 5 years, in 1950 he opened his own professional activity offices in Naples, Milan and Pescara.
In 1967 he deposits the patent of the first grid beam of the enclosed type, called later on REP®. The following year, he sensed the innovative potential of the information applied to the building field and he develops the first software for the calculation process of the REP® beams. In 1980 he founded with his wife Paola Pezzi Edis srl in order to manage the patents of REP® System, adding new products and brands in the nineties.
